Michael Wayne Poot, 43, of Brooksville, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Brooksville Regional Hospital. He was born in Fort Polk, La., and moved to this area 37 years ago from Fort Dix, N.J.
Mr. Poot was a sergeant at the Sumter Correctional Institute in Bushnell and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl; and a stepson, Jacob Lane of Brooksville.

Neil F. Law Jr., 90, of Brooksville, died Friday, Sept. 12, at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Brooksville.
Mr. Law retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Hernando County Cattleman's Association, Brooksville Kiwanis Club, Boy Scouts of America, and First United Methodist Church of Brooksville, board member of Hernando State Bank, now known as SunTrust Bank, founded Brooksville Golf and Country Club in 1971, and was co-owner of the development now known as Majestic Oaks.
He is survived by his son, Neil F. "Freddy" Law III of Brooksville.

Linda A. Moran, 46, of Brooksville, died Friday, Sept. 12, at Brooksville Regional Hospital. She was born in Jersey City, N.J., and moved to this area two years ago from Long Island, N.Y.
Mrs. Moran was a quality assurance program director for Key Pine Village in Lecanto and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Timothy J.; three sons, Thomas Moran of Long Island, and Patrick Moran and Brian Moran, both of Brooksville; two daughters, Colleen Moran and Jamie Moran, both of Brooksville; her mother, Sadie McLean of Long Island; and a brother, James McLean Jr. of Long Island.

Gertrude V. Bean, 82, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Sept. 13, at her home. She was born in Jersey City, N.J., and moved to this area a year ago from Naples.
Ms. Bean was a retired meat packer for Swift's.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

Maria E. Nieves, 101, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Sept. 13, at Evergreen Woods. She was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, and moved to this area 17 years ago from New York.
Mrs. Nieves was a retired seamstress and attended St. Theresa Catholic Church.
Survivors include a son, Benigno of Puerto Rico; two daughters, Angelita of Pasco and Carmen of Spring Hill; and five grandchildren.
