BROOKSVILLE - Police arrested a teenager on Friday and named him as the armed robber who shot a 17-year-old boy in the torso with a .22 caliber handgun.
The alleged robbery, which was a probably a marijuana drug buy, occurred around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Tanglewood Apartments on Union Street, police say.
The victim was wounded when Laryan Clark, 18, of 1340 E. Jefferson St., attempted to rob him, according to a press release. Clark fled after the shooting without taking anything from the victim, authorities say.
The victim, who was hit in his left side, is now in stable condition.
Clark is charged with armed robbery with a firearm and aggravated battery.
Chief George Turner said Friday the investigation is still ongoing and other arrests are possible.
Also Friday, police reported the seizure of 5.8 ounces of marijuana after a traffic stop on Tuesday at West Jefferson Street and Veterans Avenue. The marijuana was broken up into 37 bags, each holding 4.5 grams of the drug, according to report. Charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute were George Mason III, 36, of 965 Candlelight Blvd., and Kenya Pickering, 21, of 26490 Dallas Drive.
