Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin hit it out of the park. Her introductory speech, after being nominated as the Republican candidate for vice president, was a home run with the bases loaded.
Joe Biden and Barack Hussein Obama will need double doses of sleeping pills to get any rest after hearing her shred their campaign, revealing it for the deceptively dangerous sham it is.
Predictably, the elite liberal media jumped up to counterattack, grasping at typical emotional nonsense, such as: Ok, so Governor Palin can read from a TelePrompTer while attacking Senators Obama and Biden, but why didn't she even once address the issues facing the nation today? Well, let's take a look at those issues, as presented by the Democratic Party and their TelePrompTer readers — Biden, Pelosi, Obama and company.
According to effete liberal spokespersons, the issues in this campaign are primarily: the economy; free education, from age 4 (i.e., free baby sitting) through at least four years of college; universal free medical care; guaranteed retirement; more, easier and better-paid jobs; a higher minimum wage; an end to imperialistic U.S. military actions; energy independence (but without drilling for oil); an end to free trade agreements in the Americas; and saving the environment from alleged global warming, by using polluting, fluorescent bulbs and properly inflating automobile tires.
Although neither political party can make those inevitably disastrous socialist dreams happen, the fact that Obama might be tempted to try is, by itself, frightening.
Although the federal government is already seriously obese, inefficient and wasteful, a recent news report tells us that, even in these financially troubled times, with their attendant layoffs, our rich uncle will add some 3,000 employees this year. To attempt to fulfill their "issue" promises, the Obamaniacs will give us still more services controlled by that same bloated government.
Of course, to begin to offset those new expenses, Obama will have to raise taxes, even while promising to lower them for you and me. I guess what that mumbo jumbo means is that the Democrats would further tax successful large businesses and evil individuals earning more than what is "reasonable." They would, apparently, embrace that failed communist/socialist economic policy of "From each according to ability: to each according to need."
The Democrats would further tax businesses that are the economic foundation of this nation, and rob "rich" individuals to give to the "poor." Obama would undermine our already weak and tottering economy — quite likely causing its collapse, and precipitating a depression such as the world has never known. Even as the national debt increases, because of ballooning expenses coupled with reduced income, the concurrent promised handouts to the masses would result in less incentive to get and hold jobs, thus causing reduced production and less investment in new businesses. Fewer individuals would save for their own security or other needs, thus even further reducing vital investment capital, which has usually been available from banks.
The oft-repeated Obama themes of change, hope, peace and love will, almost surely, instead be an era of increased social tensions caused by Obama's barely hidden racial, social and religious bigotry, and by unresolved problems with millions of illegal immigrants, which have added to the burden of violent crime, while placing heavy demands on increasingly unavailable welfare funds.
Finally, the Democrat's vaguely-stated issues on national defense and international relations are likely to result in increased terrorism on U.S. territory, although I don't really believe that they'll be that careless, once faced with having to make a real decision, instead of just mouthing attractive platitudes and comforting promises.
By comparison, Republicans have fundamental beliefs and realistic goals involving less government, more individual responsibility, free enterprise, reduced taxes, maintenance of the present, outstanding (if imperfect) healthcare system, strong national defense, reasonable controls on illegal immigration, "workfare" rather than welfare, a right to life for infants and other fundamental concepts that made this nation great.
Because Obamaniacs are stung by Palin's caustic comments, and because they can't effectively argue with the policies and issues that she represents, they've reflexed to attacking her and her family, using anything critical they can dig up or take out of context, concerning her past performance as a political executive (e.g., mayor and governor).
For example, they crow about her having worked to get federal funds for her city and/or state, but that is exactly what politicians are expected to do, if they are to stay in office. Look, for example, of how popular is Sen. "Chappaquiddick" Ted Kennedy in his home state; that is largely due to his regularly "bringing home the bacon."
Yes, Palin did obtain federal funds used to help her constituents, but she apparently knows that earmarks and pork are fundamentally wrong and would work to reduce them, if such is in her power. She seems to be a person of strong character, who's aware of where the line should be drawn on ethics in government, and she has the courage to clean up corruption if possible. Her life better represents the core values of "middle Americans" than do those of other current political candidates. She is a breath of fresh air, blowing its unwelcome way into smoke-filled political rooms.
I'd say, "You go girl!" — except that I dislike that feminist platitude.
