McCain And Palin: Beauty And The Beast

Published: September 4, 2008

At age 72, diagnosed with cancer more than once, Sen. John McCain picks as vice president a "beauty queen" with no national or foreign policy experience and only a mayorship of a hamlet in Alaska (Wasilla, population 5,469), who won as governor with only 115,000 votes out of 650,000, currently serving less than two years.
But she does have the one thing that McCain consistently seems to need. Sarah Palin is a beauty contest winner, like his first and second wives. What else is she?
Well, let's see! She is, right now, under investigation in Alaska for "abuse of power" for trying to destroy the career of her former brother-in-law during his divorce from her sister. When his boss refused to fire him, Palin fired the boss, Alaska Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan.
Palin hacked into fellow Commissioner Randy Ruedrich's computer (Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission) trying to get him ousted. She used a city computer for political purposes. She has a cruel streak hidden under her smile.
Her own mother-in-law, Faye Palin, is not supporting her, but is leaning toward Barack Obama. Palin is very strongly anti-choice, even in cases of rape and incest, and she and McCain will certainly work to overturn Roe v. Wade. Palin wants creationism taught in all schools, but which religious doctrine will be the one taught – Catholic, Protestant, Episcopal, Jewish? Which one of these is your doctrine?
And science will be dumped to satisfy a religious radical. What happened to separation of church and state folks? A supporter of abstinence only, she has a pregnant 17-year-old daughter to show for it, perhaps not for the first time as photos with her dad show the daughter in February with an obvious belly bulge while Palin, at that time, was flat as a pancake.
She does not think humans are the cause of climate change. She is for McCain's "Big Oil First" energy policy, with her husband, a manager for BP (formerly British Petroleum), lobbies hard for drilling in Alaska's ANWR (Alaskan Wildlife Refuge) as well as off Alaska's coasts.
She is against hate crimes legislation and employment non-discrimination legislation. She has sued the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to remove the polar bear from endangered species list. She supports development of Pebble Mine, the largest open pit mine in North America, jeopardizing the Bristol Bay ecosystem with the largest Sockeye Salmon run in the world, and polluting rivers, lakes and bays, effectively destroying the commercial and sport fishing industry. The potential for pollution makes the Exxon Valdez look like a small grease stain!
Palin spent $400,000 of state money to teach Alaskans about aerial hunting of wolves and bears. Buying votes with state tax money worked – aerial killing is now allowed. This year the Alaska Department of Fish and Game will exterminate 1,400 bears (current population only 2,000).
Do we want a vice president who doesn't believe in science? Someone who believes that all wildlife exist for human exploitation? Her policies are destroying the Alaskan ecosystem when most people support going green.
So why did McCain choose such an unqualified VP candidate? She speaks of the 18 million cracks in the ceiling as if she is as qualified as Hillary Clinton. What a joke and a travesty! Apparently, McCain's opinion of women is even lower than I thought. (Did you know he suggested his wife Cindy compete in a biker beauty pageant for "Miss Buffalo Chip," with the contestants appearing topless?) He seems to believe that women will vote for him with Palin in tow, relying on our stupidity as to qualifications for the job in question.
McCain's view of us ladies is in the toilet folks, so a vote for him and Palin is a vote against all women. Like McCain, Palin's view is to shoot down any and all who disagree.
Even the Republican demonstrator using the amplified train whistle during the Democratic Convention was not arrested, but allowed to voice his raucous opinion.
The Republican Convention turned SWAT teams, with their faces hidden under full masks, loose on crowds of protestors, using tear gas against them, arresting and physically abusing many in the crowd and even placed under arrest Amy Goodman, a nationally known and respected journalist, without cause. A spectacle of martial law in the streets of St. Paul, Minn., should tell you what to expect from a McCain/Palin administration. Neither has any respect for the rule of law, neither will allow any dissent of any kind, a principle tenet of any democracy.
Think that George Bush was bad? Well, McCain is far worse, with his finger constantly on the trigger and the red button and Palin cheering him on. Einstein defined madness as repeating failed policies and expecting different results. Well, these two crazies will start World War III and destroy all of us – two dwarfs trying to look bigger than they are, with low morals and equally low intelligence. God help us all.
