HERNANDO BEACH - A man was charged with burglary Sunday night after he broke into a house and made coffee, deputies said.
Byron Shipley was at his 6094 Waverly Road home when he noticed Thomas Blizzard, 55, was inside.
Blizzard admitted to Hernando County Sheriff's deputies he entered the residence without permission, but thought the home was vacant.
He said he had done work around the house in the past and thought he could use it "to dry off and rest," according to an affidavit.
While inside, Blizzard used kitchen utensils and made himself a pot of coffee, deputies said.
To gain entry, he cut through a screen door and opened an unlocked sliding glass door, according to the affidavit.
He was taken to the Hernando County Jail and held on a $3,000 bond.
Opossum Removed From House
SPRING HILL A man walked into his garage Saturday afternoon and observed an angry opossum wedged under a piece of furniture, deputies said.
Ronald Newhouse, 41, tried contacting animal control, but was unable to do so. A few hours passed and he called the sheriff's office, according to an affidavit.
The first-responding deputy said he noticed the animal was "distressed or sick" and heard it hissing and screaming, authorities said.
He contacted someone from a local wildlife control agency, who responded to the house, located at 2263 Gaucho Ave.
The animal expert removed the baby opossum from under the piece of furniture. It appeared to be "injured and aggressive," according to the affidavit.
