Report: Fleeing TransAm Tops 100 mph
WEEKI WACHEE - A chase that hit top speeds of more than100 mph Sunday afternoon resulted in felony charges for the driver.
The deputy said he was southbound on Commercial Way, near Ridge Road, around 3 p.m. when he clocked a silver Trans Am traveling 78 mph in the 60 mph zone. When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the TransAm drove around the gas station outside the Camp-A-Wyle entrance and re-entered Commercial Way, this time traveling south, a report states.
The deputy lost sight of the TransAm near the St. Andrews Boulevard intersection, which leads into the Heather subdivision. A gate guard told the deputy that a silver TransAm had entered the subdivision on the wrong side of the road at a "high rate of speed," a report states.
The deputy searched the streets of the Heather and found the car parked in the driveway of 7407 Heather Walk Drive. The TransAm's alleged driver, Jason Folds, 30, initially denied any knowledge of the pursuit, but later added that he didn't have a driver's license and that he didn't want to go to jail, a report states.
Folds was charged with two felonies - possession of cocaine and fleeing to elude - along with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license.
Drugs In Shoe Earns Felony Charge
BROOKSVILLE - Deputies say they found $93 worth of marijuana in the right shoe of a man taken into custody under the Marchman Act.
A deputy investigating a call about a drunk pedestrian found Guillermo Guerrero, 35, in the parking lot of the Connections Bar around 12:40 a.m. Saturday; the deputy decided Guerrero's intoxication was severe enough to warrant protective custody, a report states.
Once at the jail, corrections officers found 11.7 grams of marijuana in Guerrero's shoe and turned it over to the deputy, who charged Guerrero with introduction of contraband into a county facility, a report shows.
Fight Re-Flares As Deputies Leave
SPRING HILL - Deputies were about to leave a domestic battery investigation without an arrest when a child ran out of the home and shouted, "Come back, come back. They're fighting," a report shows.
Deputies were leaving 10289 Carrin Road around 4 p.m. on Friday after determining that an allegation that a father had choked his son was unfounded, a report states. The deputies were at the bottom of the driveway talking when a child came out the front door "screaming" that his mom and dad were fighting again, a report states.
When the deputies went back inside, the victim told them that her husband, Todd Fell, 38, had used his body to push her away and keep the phone out of her reach, a report states. Fell was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery.
Suspected Drunk Driver Arrested
SPRING HILL - A suspected drunk driver was arrested Saturday after a deputy saw her swerving and running other vehicles off the road, a report states.
The deputy pulled over Jayne Carr around 8 p.m. on Commercial Way, near Glen Lakes Boulevard. Carr failed the field sobriety tests she chose to perform, a report states.
Carr, 42, was taken to the Hernando County jail on suspicion of DUI, where she reportedly blew a blood alcohol content of .163 and .160. Florida law presumes intoxication at .08.
The deputy also reported finding drug paraphernalia in Carr's purse.
