Joseph F. Smith, 78, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Spring Hill Regional Hospital. He was born in Boston, Mass., and moved to this area 17 years ago from Dorchester, Mass.
Mr. Smith was a retired civil engineer for the Massachusetts Department of Public Works. He was a Korean conflict U.S. Navy veteran, life member of VFW Post 10209, a member of Korean War Veterans Association and AmVets Post 28 of Spring Hill, and served on the U.S.S. Catamount.
Survivors include his brother, Edward H. Smith of Dedham, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.

James "Jim" Fastook, 95, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Oak Hill Hospital. He was born in Chicago, Ill., and moved to this area 15 years ago from Fort Myers.
Mr. Fastook retired from Bell Telephone Company, Pennsylvania, and was a World War II U.S. Marines veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; three sons, James L. Fastook, Andrew Tillmann and Barry Tillmann; a daughter, Barbara Cornell; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Juanita K. Chandler, 84, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Oct. 12, at Spring Hill Regional Hospital. She was born in Newport, Wash., and moved to Florida 29 years ago from Oxon Hill, Md.
Mrs. Chandler was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church, Spring Hill.
Survivors include her husband, Walter R. Sr.; a son, Walter R. Chandler Jr. of Spring Hill; a daughter, Kay Chandler Mullahey of New Port Richey; a brother, William McIntosh of Spokane, Wash.; two sisters, Louise Slusser and Shirley Ownbey, both of Newport; and five grandchildren.

Dorothea Stopa, 85, of Cape Coral, formerly of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Highland Terrace, Inverness. She was born in Detroit, Mich., and lived in Spring Hill many years before moving to Cape Coral.
Mrs. Stopa was a homemaker and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
Survivors include a son, Gary R. Stopa of Cape Coral; two daughters, Kathleen Lavoie of Lecanto and Karen Malson of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Richard Krantz of Detroit; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Regina M. Nardone, 84, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Oak Hill Hospital. She was born in Waltham, Mass., and moved to this area 20 years ago from Cape Cod, Mass.
Mrs. Nardone was a homemaker and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include her husband, Arando; a son, Andrew of Santa Rosa, Calif.; two brothers, Anthony Busceme and Raymond Busceme, both of Massachusetts; and three sisters, Rose Toronto, Frances Santangelo and Gertrude Sotille, all of Massachusetts.
