Halloween Party This Friday

Lillian Chudy celebrated her 101st birthday a couple of Saturdays ago at the Harmony House Family Restaurant with friends and her grandson Robert Thomas from Philadelphia, Pa. Owner, chef and baker Pete Mundreaneau created his seventh torte creation - a berry walnut creme which he decorated for the occasion.

Pete's tortes can be ordered at the restaurant, or special ordered for any occasion. Each torte yields 20 to 30 slices, and is made with natural sugars. Call Pete at 848-0802.

By the way, to keep with the month of October, the Harmony House daily menu includes bratwurst, knockwurst, roast pork, choice of red cabbage, sauerkraut and potatoes. Another new item has been added direct from Transylvania - new Wine from Dracula's Blood, in Merlot, or Pinot Noir, by the glass or bottle, for the creatures of the night.

We wish Lillian many more years in good health.

The Octoberfest dinner at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church last weekend was a big success. Many thanks to all who came, worked, and contributed. Sponsored by the food pantry, with matching funds from the Thrivent.

There's a big weekend coming up. On Friday, Oct. 17, at the Masaryktown Community Hall the Masaryktown Activities Club and the West Hernando Athletic League for Seniors will hold an Adult Halloween Party and Dinner Dance in costumes .Cocktail hour will be at 5 p.m., and at 6 p.m. there will be dinner consisting of chicken or beef dinner with all the trimmings. And there will be a cash bar, and the cost is $30 per couple. For anyone wishing to dance only at 7 p.m., the cost is $5 per. For more information, call 352-442-0779 or 352-796-7034.

On Oct. 18, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, there will be a bake sale and flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. A light lunch of soup, hot dogs, coffee or punch will be available. Jace Michael Braune made his debut on Oct. 6 in Sarasota. He weighed in at 7 pounds 20 ounces and was 20 and one-half inches long. He is welcomed by big brother Shea, age 5, and big sister 10-year-old Mikaela. Proud parents are Michael and Carolyn Braune, maternal grandparents are Sam and Karen Murphy of Sarasota, and paternal grandparents are Richard and Anita Braune from here. Congratulations to all.
