Not Above The Law

I understand that everyone has a right to have an opinion, and I respect their right to voice that opinion. The part that I can't understand is the "Me" mentality from the people who write to this newspaper asking you to vote "yes" for an independent fire district.

If the last article I read in this newspaper on voting "yes" for independence was correct and the county has 129 certified firefighters covering 455 square miles and Spring Hill has 98 covering just about 45 square miles doesn't it seem to make sense that 227 firefighters cover 500 square miles. Wouldn't you think with this joined group everyone in Hernando County would be better protected and at less cost to the taxpayer?

The other thing I don't understand is how these individuals can erect signs to vote "yes" on independence and save your fire department on property along Elgin Boulevard that we have bought to widen the road. There are signs in the yards of these houses that say "No trespassing." My tax dollars help buy these houses and I and several of my friends support a "no" vote. Who gave these people permission to erect these signs in this area? I don't believe they were given permission.

I think they think they can do about anything they wish, but I don't think they are above the law.

Free Elections Over If

Dems Win In November

Do you realize that this may be the last "free" or "pseudo-free" election in our nation's history?

If Sen. Barack Obama wins this election do you think his FBI group, headed by his choice as FBI director, will maintain the FBI investigation against ACORN's fake voting programs (the Dallas Cowboys voting in Nevada, etc?). Will he maintain the FBI investigations against Raines, Johnson and Gorelick (his advisers) Franks, Dodd and Schumer (his facilitators), et al?

If Democrats win the House and Senate elections, with veto-proof majorities, do you think we will ever have free elections again?

Of course, you realize that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's tax program includes raising taxes, as does Obama, and includes a law to tax your capital gains on your IRAs and 401Ks.

Do you think the FBI has a snowball's chance in hell to bring any elections fraud cases to court within the next three weeks? If they do how long will it take Obama's choice as attorney general to dismiss them?

If Warren Buffett is Obama's choice as Secretary of the Treasury, who will be his other cabinet choices? How about Bill Ayers or Maxine Waters or George Soros or...?

You realize who is responsible for this? Democrat voters aided and willingly abetted by the ultra-liberal media and press!

Well, it's been a great 200-plus years for what was the greatest country in the world.

Presidential Achievement

I'll surely go to the inauguration

in February 2009, as I did for President Carter and President Clinton; but I have never been closer to a remarkable individual on the ballot for president under the banner of the Socialist Party as I have with Brian Moore of Hernando County.

I've been with him on the stump. I've helped him with air travel to distant states. I've brokered federal law in Ohio for getting Brian on the ballot in Ohio, a first for my home state. I've encouraged him when struggling to get on the ballot in other states, a process that has different rules for different states.

Dedicated to the Peace Corps, the Roman Catholic robe with Jesuits, liberal causes, the poor, homeless and those who are demographically barred with obstacles getting jobs, housing, health care and fair treatment in the marketplace, Brian speaks eloquently at college forums where he is invited to present a view common to socialists' ideology present in legislative bodies throughout Europe and South America, among others.

Brian is so consummate in his beliefs and ideology that the force of his presence and message won him his place on the ballot in California for president of the United States, going up against Nader and others well known in the California circuit.

Brian is not so much a maverick but in the mainstream of the Democrat ideology, more to the left than not, daring to speak out and demonstrate on the sides of roads with banners and signs along with a cadre of supporters in the Green Party, among veterans and sympathizers.

Among other credits I have is that I am a writer with a background in Ohio as a newspaper reporter, photographer, columnist and editor.

Naturally, I would be interested in a person who lives his ideological commitment as far as one could push it - all the way to achieving a place on the ballot for president of the United States.
