Hernando High dropped a critical district contest Friday night at Tom Fisher Memorial Stadium, falling to Crystal River, 20-3.
The Pirates, the defending the Class 3A, District 6 champions, came in 1-4 overall (0-1 3A-6), but dealt the now 2-3 Leopards a loss in their first district game of the season.
Hernando's only offense came on a 30-yard field goal by Josh Harvey. Quarterback Kall Daniel completed 6-of-12 passes for 60 yards and had one interception. Alvin Delaine had 79 yards rushing on 20 carries.
The game turned in the third quarter when a Crystal River punt hit off a Hernando player and was recovered by the Pirates. That led to Crystal River's first touchdown, making it 13-0.
