BROOKSVILLE - RaceTrac is one step away from building another pit stop on State Road 50.
County commissioners will consider at their land use hearing Wednesday a rezoning request to build a 5,000-square-foot convenience store and filling station on nearly four acres on the northwest corner of S.R. 50 and Fort Dade Avenue.
Planning staffers and the county's zoning board have recommended approval of the project. The petitioner would have to build a frontage road and get permission from the Florida Department of Transportation to have direct access to S.R. 50, according to a staff report.
It's one of just a few items on a light agenda.
The commission also will consider its annual contract with the state to provide some $1.36 million for health services provided by the Hernando County Health Department.
The meeting begins at 9 a.m. in the commission chambers of the Government Center, 20 N. Main St., Brooksville.
