Congress Deserts Constituents To Serve Lobbyists Who Buy Them

Published: October 5, 2008

Well, the Congress passed the bailout bill, sweetened with $150 billion extra to get malingering representatives, needing something other than duty to their country, to vote for the bill. The bill now totals $850 billion.

The $150 billion added to the original $700 billion appears to be the bailout bill's form of "earmarks"-attaching extra spending or better known as "pork" to important bills needed to pass. A famous example you'll remember was the "Bridge to Nowhere." But the point is that they had to load the bill up with extras to pass it.

Duty to your country wasn't enough.

Now, the reason this bill passed so quickly was to give the Congress more time to hustle off to campaign for their re-election. The reason it first failed in the House was so those Democrat's running for re-election in shaky areas could tell their constituents that they voted against a bad bill. Imagine politicking to regain or hold onto office as being more important than resolving an issue that might bring the country to its knees and impoverish many of us.

Thank God, there were none of these traitors at Valley Forge, Gettysburg, the Marne, Iwo Jima, the Chosen Reservoir or the Tet Offensive. Our poor country!

Are our troops fighting and dying in foreign lands to preserve our most hallowed traditions and freedoms and this great country, including this?

One other thing, this "bill" started out as a three-page item a little more than a week ago and ballooned to 450 pages about three days ago. Which of these malingering legislators knows what was in that bill? Charles Krauthammer claimed one industry in Oregon making wooden arrows (like bows and arrows) is going to get financial aid. Rush Limbaugh said a couple days ago that ACORN, the communist organization that Obama worked for after graduating from Harvard, was to receive a large grant from this bill. I have not seen it and wonder what other goodies are being passed out. Then, this bill is to be fixed by the same criminals that screwed it up in the first place.

Isn't there some way to bypass that group? Can't we invalidate their elections due to dereliction of duty or high crimes (bribery is a crime)? Congress long ago deserted its obligation to our country and its constituents and serves only the lobbyists who buy them. I have no lobbyists. Who represents me?

Lastly, who is going to pay for this bailout?

Any guesses?
