ORLANDO - A man was arrested and charged with home invasion and kidnapping in connection with a break-in Tuesday in a Royal Highlands neighborhood.
Frans Guerrier, 34, of Orlando, was arrested Thursday by the Orange County Sheriff's Office and turned over to Hernando County authorities Friday afternoon.
Details of the arrest and case were not disclosed.
"It's too much of an active investigation right now," said Sgt. Donna Black, a spokeswoman with the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.
Guerrier confessed to the charges during a taped interview and provided information, which was "corroborated by (the) victim," according to an arrest affidavit.
Witness and crime scene information also backed up the Guerrier's story, deputies said.
Detectives were searching for three men who broke into a home in the 8100 block of Nightwalker Road Tuesday morning.
A woman returned home around 7:30 a.m. to find a man standing in her garage, according to a sheriff's office media release.
She called 911 and two other men ran out of the house, got into a van and headed north along Nightwalker.
The victim's 13-year-old son was in the house at the time of the home invasion, but he escaped unharmed, according to the release.
Guerrier's kidnapping charge is connected to the 13-year-old victim, Black said.
The men, two of whom were armed, were described as adult black men, possibly Haitian, deputies said.
Guerrier was born in Haiti, according to arrest records.
The getaway vehicle is described as a white Ford cargo van with a Florida tag.
Anyone with more information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 352-754-6830 or 1-866-990-TIPS (8477).
