Stabins Childish
It is an embarrassment and an outrage to read of Jeff Stabins' "thank you" to Linda Hayward. I cannot believe he is so idiotic and childish to have sent her this.
Linda has campaigned long and hard for what she believes is in the best interests of Hernando County and this is what she gets in return? An elected commissioner, incumbent no less, reacts in this way? I guess Stabins does not take criticism very well. Too bad. I only wish he was not re-elected along with Kingsley and Rowden. He does not deserve to sit on the board of county commissioners, and I can only hope this is the last time for him.
His response to Hayward is the most immature thing I have ever heard of, and I am embarrassed to say I even live in this county after something like that.
Also, his calling the Hernando Today a "rag" is disgusting. Hope the people who voted for him are having second thoughts.

Stabins Owes Apologies
A picture is worth a thousand words. I'm referring to Hernando Today's front-page picture, Nov. 19, of Jeff Stabins, our county commissioner, hugging "Mr. Special Interests," Gary Schraut. This truly shows where Mr. Stabins' interests lay.
Further, Mr. Stabins' act of bashing Linda Hayward was inappropriate at best. Right or wrong, Linda Hayward is attempting to improve our county government. If Mr. Stabins is also trying to do this, there should be no animosity.
Mr. Stabins has also ridiculed the Hernando Today on more than one occasion. He owes Hernando Today and Linda Hayward a public apology, but don't hold your breath.

God Bless Obama
Am I disappointed McCain-Palin lost? You betcha'! (Betcha' courtesy Gov. Palin) Am I dejected? Absolutely. Am I disenchanted with McCain-Palin? No, no, a thousand times no!
Congratulations, your "horse" won the most defining political race in our history and did so handedly. Though President-elect Barack Obama was not my choice, he is my president effective Jan. 20, 2009. The fact that I chose not to vote Obama-Biden in no way can justify unforgivable "labeling" by far too many short-sighted Americans.
Nonetheless, my loyalty to the president-elect unless proven otherwise is now etched in stone. Obama richly deserves the worldwide acclaim he is receiving, which indeed would have elicited pride and gratification from our courageous founding forefathers and our 16{+t}{+h} President Abraham Lincoln. In my view, such unstinting praise was long overdue in principle if not in message. Hopefully, the president-elect will resist control by the same old, same old, "unchangeable", self-serving Washington "sick"-pac insiders - i.e., Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Chuck Schumer and Howard Dean.
"Barack Obama inherits two wars, a collapsing economy, a country anxious for change - and he isn't even president yet." - (U.S. News & World Report, Nov. 17-24.) We trust Obama will provide the priority leadership needed to eliminate the outrageous gender bias bordering on slander that gripped America during the primaries and general election. Perhaps the president-elect will fulfill a "dream" of mine - i.e.; establishing the first-ever cabinet level secretary of human rights. The reprehensible media driven gender bias "accorded" Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Gov. Palin, among countless women of equal though lesser renown, who are consistently politically penalized due to a yesterday male and, yes, other female baditutide, remains intolerable.
I will no longer watch the tainted, misleading news presented by CNN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, etc., confining my viewership to FOX, PBS, C-SPAN only, until and if they admit to and apologize for their unmitigated, grossly unprofessional biased propaganda generated during the election. Such dishonorable behavior elicited apologies on Nov. 11 from the august Chicago Tribune and Washington Post for their own admitted "sponsored" gender bias. Duly elected public officials must devote time and energy to the swift denunciation of and legislation against bias in general throughout the electronic and print media now and ad infinitum!
My vigorous support for, protection of, cooperation with Israel by Obama is more critical than ever. Having said that, I sincerely hope the president-elect proves to be everything you believe him to be. God bless America The Beautiful, President-elect Barack Obama and his family.
