Make The Call To Save
Do you routinely "tune-out" those TV commercials? Well, in these difficult economic times, we are all looking for ways to save money.
There is a TV commercial for "Digital Combo" from Bright House that advertises the three services of phone, Internet and cable for $109 a month. I checked my bill from Bright House and found that I was paying $129.90 for the basic service (plus all those extras of course).
I called customer service and asked why I was paying the higher fee. The gentleman stated that I was a long-standing customer and over the years my rate for that service continued to go up. He said he would gladly adjust my rate to the lower fee, which would be reflected on my next bill. When I asked him why Bright House didn't adjust everyone's fee, he said that Bright House has hundreds of thousands of customers and they just could not do that. He stated that customers have to call customer service and only then will they adjust their rate.
To all Bright House "Digital Combo" subscribers, call customer service and save $20 a month. That's a yearly savings of more than $240 when you consider you also save on the tax.

Price Too High
So Chris Kingsley thinks I'm a whacko for responding negatively to his daughter's letter. Well, I've been called much worse for having opinions that are outside of the box. It's really shameful how he used his daughter as a squawk box when he was voted out of office. My father never did that to his children. Of course, he never had people turn against him for anything. He was just a nice guy who everyone liked all of the time.
In case Kingsley is wondering, I think we are a dictatorship when you have 10 candidates running for president on the ballot and only Democrats and Republicans get to participate in the debates. What also doesn't help matters is when you only have those two parties on a ballot for something and no third party or even a write-in area. The fact that a question is put on the ballot concerning who we wish to marry is also another sign, and this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Now I realize that freedom isn't free, but if this is the price we must pay for it, I think it's just too expensive.

Keep Writing
Thank you, Hernando Today, for running "Keeping it Simple" by Gary Joseph LeBlanc re: Alzheimer's Disease. As a health care worker for 10 years and someone who has experienced the privilege and pain of working closely with patients and families attempting to survive in a sea of forgetfulness (as Mr. LeBlanc so aptly put it) I congratulate him on putting his day-in and day-out struggles into words. Finding those words, I guarantee you, is not easy for those afflicted and for their loved ones.
Having had the privilege of knowing Mr. LeBlanc Sr. and Jr. at their unique bookstore, I can assure you, emphatically, that Mr. LeBlanc Jr., hereafter referred to as Gary, dearly loves his dad and has and will do anything to provide creative and loving care each and every day. You can hear it in his voice and see it in his eyes. He truly "gets it."
And one way I know that is that Gary has been able to somehow carve out those little amusing happenstances along the way and, fortunately for us, find a way, in spite of his heartbreak and exhaustion, convey its spirit so as to uplift the caregiver and "give permission" to laugh as well as weep.
Thank you, God, for a sense of humor without which we surely would perish!
And Gary, keep writing! I'm sure it's therapeutic for you but also a blessing to those who need your practical advice as well as "a friend" with a common struggle. God bless you!
