Gerald J. Holmes, 76, of Spring Hill, died Friday, Nov. 14, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville. He was born in Garden City, N.Y., and moved to this area 21 years ago from Uniondale, N.Y.
Mr. Holmes retired as a supervisor for the Town of Hempstead Public Water Works. He was a Korean conflict U.S. Marine Corp veteran, where he received the Silver Star and two Purple Hearts. He was a life member of Marine Corp League 708, VFW Post 10209, Moose Lodge 521 and Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; a daughter, Debra H. Nigro of Spring Hill; two sisters, Barbara Cochrane of Sarasota and Marion Harrington of San Diego, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
Arrangements by Merritt Funeral Homes, Spring Hill Chapel.
Jay P. Miller, 57, of Brooksville, died Saturday, Nov. 15, at home.
Mr. Miller was born in Champaign, Ill., and moved to this area six years ago from St. Petersburg.
Survivors include his wife, Jamielove; a brother, Joe Miller; and two sisters, Jody Sorkin and Janet Sanger.

Margaret Herndon, 95, of Brooksville, died Friday, Nov. 14, at her home. She was born in Alexandria, Ind., and moved to this area 40 years ago from Bedford, Ind.
Mrs. Herndon was a homemaker and a Christian by faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Hazelton of Brooksville and Bonnie Christensen of Rockwood, Tenn.; two sisters, Jane Head and Dorothy Waymire, both of Brooksville; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
