BROOKSVILLE - A woman awakened by barking dogs Thursday morning interrupted a suspected burglar who bolted out the door and escaped in a pickup but was later caught, a report shows.
The victim was able to jot down the tag number of the truck and called authorities who began their investigation around 9:20 a.m. at 6064 Kurt St.
The license plate registration led deputies to 19206 Fort Dade Ave., where they found their suspect, Kevin Yost Jr. Yost said he had only left the house that morning to go to the BP station, but the victim identified him as the man inside her home and recognized the pickup in the driveway, a report shows.
Yost, 24, was charged with burglary of a structure.
Chatty Suspect Gets Criminal Citation
BROOKSVILLE - A deputy said he pulled over a reckless go-cart driver Thursday and, after a verbal warning, told the driver he was free to go.
But when Michael Mitchell, 18, stood around to talk, the deputy asked if he could search his pockets. Mitchell said yes, so the deputy patted him down and removed a gram of marijuana from Mitchell's shoe, a report shows.
Mitchell was given a misdemeanor citation for a charge of possession of marijuana under 20 grams.
