TAMPA - As the price of crude oil moves closer to $60 per barrel, retail costs at the pump drop further toward the $2 mark.

Gasoline demand is lower than normal and oil production has not been significantly reduced, according to AAA Auto Club South.

Crude oil closed Friday at $61.04 per barrel.

The average cost for a gallon of regular gas in Florida is $2.29, which is 16 cents higher than the national average.
