Brooksville Regional announces Excellence awards

BROOKSVILLE Two team members at Brooksville Regional Hospital were recognized for their service to patients, guests and other team members for the month of September. The "Caught In The Act" award recognizes an employee who has exceeded standards of excellence in service to a guest. September's recipient is Deb Allegra, a registered nurse in the Same Day Surgery department. The HOPE (Helping Others While Pursuing Excellence) award recognizes an employee who has earned accolades from patients and/or guests. September's recipient is Kim Ivester, who works in the Environmental Services department.

Hospice announces new board chairman

BROOKSVILLE John Church was elected chairman of the board for Hernando-Pasco Hospice (HPH), Inc. for a two-year term. The appointment was announced last month. A board member since 1996, Church is president of Brown & Brown Insurance, Brooksville division. The hospice is a $67 million not-for-profit organization that provides care, comfort and support to more than 1,000 individuals on an average daily basis who are affected by life-limiting illnesses. The agency serves Hernando, Pasco and Citrus counties and has an administrative office in Hudson, seven team offices, four hospice houses and five hospice care centers strategically located throughout its tri-county service area to best meet community needs.

The Grande leasing office has moved

BROOKSVILLE The Grande, Brooksville's newest independent living community, recently announced the leasing office has moved from 723 Benton Ave. to 725 Desoto Ave. The office is now inside the facility and preleasing is available. Sleep center open house is today

BROOKSVILLE The Sleep Disorders Center at Brooksville Regional Hospital is having an open house from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10. Sleep technologists will be on hand to answer questions and offer education. The latest sleep disorders equipment will be on display. There will be mask demonstrations and fittings. SPRING HILL Oak Hill Hospital recently announced it will continue its popular For Your Health community education series from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13. Dr. Daniel P. BROOKSVILLE The Hernando Endoscopy and Surgery Center recently announced its next seminar. Betsy Vipond, a chartered life underwriter and certified financial planner, will present "Choosing a Medicare Plan in Tough Times." Hernando Builders Association presents check to Dawn Center

HERNANDO BEACH The Hernando Builders Association Truck Night Explosion Committee Chairwoman Gena Hunt-Walters presented a check for $500 to Morgan Moeller from the Dawn Center during the group's October 27 Installation and Awards Banquet at the Bayport Inn. The HBA gives a portion of the proceeds from all its fundraisers to local charities.

Chamber of Commerce announces Business Boot Camp

BROOKSVILLE The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce recently announced its new Business Boot Camp Adventures course. Business Boot Camp Adventures is a six-week course that starts Tuesday, Jan. 27, and ends Tuesday, March 3. The program will be conducted at Career Central, located at 7361 Forest Oaks Blvd. in Spring Hill. Each day, it will run from 6 to 9 p.m. Business Boot Camp Adventures is a major reworking of the chamber's former Entrepreneurial Academy. The cost for all six weeks is $99. Due to the popularity of session 5 (How to Cast Your Net), the individual class will be offered at a cost of $49. Spring Hill Jazzercisers participate in NFL fundraiser

SPRING HILL Nine Spring Hill Jazzercisers combined healthy exercise and helping the community by participating in a Miami Dolphins halftime show, which doubled as a fundraiser for University of Miami/Sylvester Cancer Center, which focuses on breast cancer research. The local participants were part of a group of 517Jazzercisers from across Central and South Florida. Jazzercise is a workout program that offers a fusion of jazz dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga and kickboxing movements. Candlelite Fitness offers water aerobics

BROOKSVILLE Candlelite Fitness Center in Brooksville offers water aerobics classes in its heated pool from 10 to 11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 11 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays; and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursday. The day classes are free for members and the evening classes are $2 for members. All classes for nonmembers are $5. Water aerobics promotes strength and cardiovascular fitness while reducing the risk of muscle or joint injury by supporting the body with the buoyancy of water. SPRING HILL The Dawn Center, Hernando County's domestic and sexual violence shelter, has a free speaker's bureau available to organizations that are interested. Local women's business network meets twice per month

SPRING HILL The Hernando County Home Business Women's Network group meets twice a month. The Spring Hill Chapter meets on the first and third Wednesday and the Brooksville Chapter meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. This is a non-compete group for women who are home-based, own their own store or office and are entrepreneurs. The members network to help one another promote products and services as well as helping in the community. BROOKSVILLE Supporting the Dawn Center is now as simple as shopping online. The Dawn Center recently launched its new online store featuring T-shirts, mugs, stationary and more. At www.cafepress.com/DawnCenter, people can buy items featuring original artwork created by students along with other items that promote the Dawn Center's cause. Proceeds go directly to supporting the vital services offered by Hernando County's domestic and sexual violence center.
