The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same

Published: November 8, 2008

According to Frances Earl's column, now that Barack Obama has been elected president, all will be right with the world. The terrorists will stop attacking us. The world will love us. Jobs will come flooding back to the United States. Everyone will be able to buy a house, and everyone's child will be able to go to college.

And if you believe all that is going to happen once Obama's gets into office, there is a bridge in Brooklyn I want to sell you.

I hate to tell Earl and the millions of people who were literally dancing in the street with tears in their eyes after Obama won that Obama is not some Messiah. He is not Superman swooping out the sky to save the day. He is not even a pop star. He is a politician; a cleverly packaged politician who offered "pie in the sky" platitudes and nothing else.

Obama is a member of the infamous Chicago political machine. He is someone who, in terms of history, is the least unqualified person to assume the office of president and, I am sorry, while being a community activist is a noble position, it does not make a person qualified to be president.

Here's a man who ran on the single issue of change and yet, as I write this letter, who does he appoint as his Chief of Staff? Rham Emanuel one on President's Clinton top people.

So much for change.
