SPRING HILL - A traditional Filipino Fiesta celebrating Philippine Independence Day will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the SNPJ Lodge 778 banquet hall, 13383 County Line Road.
The event is sponsored annually by the Filipino American Social Club of Hernando County Inc.
This year's Philippine Independence celebration is a potluck event, so attendees are requested to be generous with special authentic Filipino dishes.
As is the Filipino custom, two "Lechon" (roasted pig) will be provided by the FASC. Philippine native delicacies will also be served during the activities, and imported Philippine San Miguel beer will be available. There will be a display of Philippine native collections.
A lively, entertaining night is planned featuring a variety of music including Pop, Ballroom, Disco, Philippine Disco, Latin, and requests played by local Filipino DJ Ernie, a Filipino Cultural Dance presentation, and a performance by the talented FASC Choral Group. Filipiniana native costume, or semi-formal attire, is requested of attendees. This is an open event; the FASC welcomes everyone, both members and non-members alike, to join the festivities and get a taste of "Fil-Am" America.
Tickets are $12 per person, and children under 13 are free of charge.
