NAMI Hernando To Host Mental Health Seminar
WEEKI WACHEE - National Alliance on Mental Illness/NAMI Hernando will present its 14th Annual Mental Health Seminar entitled, "Let the Dialogue Continue: Decriminalizing Mental Illness" from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Nativity Lutheran Church, 6363 Commercial Way. The event will feature a panel of experts discussing how a mental health court works. Hernando County's Mental Health Court will begin this summer in the 5th Circuit. NAMI Hernando will also honor the Hernando County Sheriff's Office's Crisis Intervention Team officers. The seminar will be sponsored by The Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and is free of charge. Cancer Institute To Hold Breast Cancer Support Group
SPRING HILL - Florida Cancer Institute - New Hope will hold a women's breast cancer support group from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, at its center located at 7154 Medical Center Drive. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, call Tambra Randazzo, RT, at 352-592-8128.
St. Andrew's To Hold Divorce Care Sessions
SPRING HILL - St. Andrew's Episcopal Church will hold its summer schedule for Divorce Care as follows: at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 2, 16 and 30, July 7 and 21, and Aug. 4, in the Krysher Hall Library of the church located at 2301 Deltona Blvd. The summer schedule will consist of informal discussion gatherings until the fall session resumes. CARES To Offer Early Memory Loss Program
PORT RICHEY - CARES Early Memory Loss Program will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Thursday at the CARES Phil Mishkin Administrative Center, 7505 Rottingham Road. The program is for individuals who are experiencing early memory losses and need a proactive day program to provide social support and memory retraining skills. The CARES "Senior Movements" Early Memory Loss Program offers individuals and their families opportunities to reduce the progression and challenges of potential memory disorders through early intervention. There is a six-week commitment to begin the program, and attendance thereafter is on a session-to-session basis. An introductory class will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 11. Cancer Institute To Hold Prostate Cancer Support Group
SPRING HILL - Florida Cancer Institute will hold its "Man to Man" prostate cancer support group at 6 p.m. Monday, June 2, at its center located at 7154 Medical Center Drive. Topics that are frequently discussed are: importance of early detection, signs and symptoms, prognosis, disease stages, incontinence, impotence, various treatment options including hormone therapy and medications, and especially the latest research and treatment modalities. Speakers will include physicians, nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, social workers and others. For more information, call Betty Lawrence, R.T., support group facilitator, at 352-596-1926.
