SUNDAY Military/Veterans

VFW Post 10209 serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as follows: from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Sunday; from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays, with entertainment provided by Eddie & The Cruzers at 8 p.m. May 30 in the Hall; soup and sandwich special at a cost of $3.99 will be offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday; and early bird specials will be offered from 2 to 5 p.m. Fridays at a cost of $5.95. VFW Post 8713 and Ladies Auxiliary will hold a breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday, June 8. The menu will include scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, grits or potatoes, biscuits or toast, or biscuits and gravy, juice and coffee. The donation is $5 per person, and cocktails will be available at a cost of $1 each. Also, the Post will feature Mike the Music Man at 7 p.m. every Friday. Karaoke will be held at 7 p.m. every Saturday; and Country Pride Band will be featured from 2 to 5 p.m. every Saturday at the Post located at 1686 E. Jefferson St., Brooksville. Ethnic Clubs
Hungarian American Club will meet from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at the Senior Citizens Club of Hernando County, 7925 Rhanbuoy Road, Spring Hill. MONDAY Computer Clubs
Hernando Computer Club will present an "Introduction to Computers with Windows XP from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, May 28, at the Shriners Club of Hernando County, 13400 Montour St., off Sunshine Grove Road, Brooksville. Seniors Activities

Senior Citizens Club of Hernando County offers the following activities at the hall located at 7925 Rhanbuoy Road, Spring Hill: card games are held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Monday and Thursday. For information, call Barbara at 352-683-2440. For information regarding crafts and line dancing classes, call the club. Bingo will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, with early birds at 11 a.m. Group road trips such as Biloxi, Sterling and Hard Rock plus cruises are periodically arranged for members and their guests. Recreation

Spring Hill Camera Club meets at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Monday of the month at the Oak Hill Enrichment Center, located behind Oak Hill Hospital, 11375 Cortez Blvd., Spring Hill. Club business and an informative presentation are held the second Monday of the month. A photo competition meeting is held the fourth Monday of the month. Membership is open to all beginning and experienced film and digital photographers. Guests, visitors and new members are welcome. Poor Rich's Chess Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday at the Oak Hill Hospital cafeteria (located to the right of the Main Lobby), 11375 Cortez Blvd., Spring Hill. The club offers instructions and tips to new or less experienced players. School age children of all ages, women and snowbirds are welcome. If desired, bring own chess set or club sets are available. The club is currently working with school chess clubs at Central High School in Brooksville and Challenger K-8 in Spring Hill. Also, the club will offer a senior college scholarship. Music

Hernando Hills Hi-Lites hold open rehearsal at 7 p.m. every Monday at Mariner United Methodist Church, 7079 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill. A vocal warm-up and mild aerobic session begins each rehearsal. Music will be provided, and Jeannine Zack is the chorus director and teacher. The chorus is a chartered member of Harmony, Inc. Girls and women of all ages who like to sing are invited. Fraternal

Aripeka Elks Lodge 2520 will present Ed Salmon's String Band every Monday at the Lodge located at 9135 Denton Ave., Hudson. Doors will open at 4 p.m.; and sandwich of choice, doughnut and coffee will be served at 6 p.m. Dancing will be held until 8:30 p.m. including strutting, line dancing and couples. The cost is $3 per person. In addition, the Lodge will serve dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. every Tuesday at the Lodge. The cost of dinner will range from $6.50 to $8.

Botanical

Spring Hill Garden Club members maintain the plant nursery located at 1489 Parker Ave., the waterfall area on U.S. 19 at the entrance to Spring Hill, and the Nature Coast Botanical Gardens adjacent the nursery. The garden club's nursery is open to the public from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays and Saturdays. Visit the gardens anytime during daylight hours. Volunteers are available from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Wednesday and Saturday to answer any gardening questions; and the Railroad Garden's train is operating on most Saturday mornings.
