German American Club of Spring Hill will hold a Hawaiian Night dance today at the Shriners Club of Hernando County, 13400 Montour St., off Sunshine Grove Road, Brooksville. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with dancing from 7 to 11 p.m. Dress code will be Hawaiian or casual attire. Music will be provided by the Alpen Diamanten band. Advance tickets will be $7 per person for members and $10 per person for guests. Tickets at the door will be $9 per person for members and $12 per person for guests. Marine Corps League, Spring Hill Detachment 708, will host a "Thank You Veterans Night" fundraiser dinner dance on Thursday, May 22, at the Detachment located at 8405 Sunshine Grove Road, Brooksville. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m., followed by music from disc jockey Richie G. Ticket cost is $15 per person, and tickets are available at the Leatherneck Lounge on a first-come basis. Opera Lovers Club will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at the Forest Glenn Retirement Community Center, 1431 Friar Tuck Lane, off Osowaw Boulevard, Spring Hill. Jerry Squier will present a program, "A Celebration of American Opera Singers." New members and visitors are welcome. Chinsegut Nature Center will conduct a Map and Compass class from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at the Nature Center located at 23212 Lake Lindsey Road, Brooksville. The class will be presented by Chinsegut volunteers. Since seating is limited to 30 people, reservations are required. The public is welcome. Hernando Beach Club holds an "open house" Friday night dinner at the club located at 3145 Flamingo Blvd., Hernando Beach. Doors open at 5 p.m., and dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. All meals are prepared by members and include dessert at a cost of $8 to $10. Reservations are required by the Wednesday preceding the Friday night dinner of attendance. Also, the club will celebrate Memorial Day with a barbecue at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, May 25. Assorted food along with salads and desserts will be on the menu. Live from Chicago will provide the entertainment. Bring a chair for the outdoor event. VFW Post 8713 and Ladies Auxiliary will hold a pig roast at 2 p.m. today. Also, the Post will feature Mike the Music Man at 7 p.m. every Friday. Karaoke will be held at 7 p.m. every Saturday; and Country Pride Band will be featured from 2 to 5 p.m. every Saturday at the Post located at 1686 E. Jefferson St., Brooksville.
