Article About Fire
Victims Upsetting
I was very upset to read about my friends, the Webbs, in your paper on May 12. They are good people who have worked hard all their lives for what they have - and raise a family. People have a hard time with the insurance here in Florida because of the cost. Some of us say: What do we do, pay for insurance or put food on the table? When you only get so much a month from working all your life, the cost is too much.
The things they had, they got from hard work; it wasn't given to them. And they are so proud they had good neighbors to help them in a time of need. This reporter makes it sound like they are lowlifes who would rather spend their money on, like he said, pricey possessions than insurance, and that isn't their case at all. I wanted you to know these people would help anyone out, at anytime, and never want anything for it.

Rep. Brown-Waite Has
Mixed Record On Abortion
According to the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite, R-Brooksville, has a mixed voting record on abortion. NRLC has given the congresswoman a score of only 42 percent on her pro-life voting record. Other pro-life Republican congressional leaders have received scores as high as 70 and 100 percent.
The Susan B. Anthony List, which endorses pro-life candidates, considers Brown-Waite as being "pro-abortion." Brown Waite has voted to prohibit partial-birth abortion and has voted yes on the abortion pain bill. One might ask: Why is the congresswoman in such bad standing with these groups? Brown-Waite has demonstrated a voting record, which is pro-life, or has she?
In July 2007, a pro-life congressman, Mike Pence, R-Indiana, sponsored an amendment to prohibit any Title X funds from going to Planned Parenthood organizations. Title X of the "Public Health Service Act" provides more than $300 million annually for grants to state and private entities for "family planning" programs. The Pence Amendment failed 189 to 231 in part because 21 Republicans voted with the Democrats (Roll Call No. 684). Brown Waite was one of those Republicans who voted for the continuation of funding for affiliates of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), the nation's largest abortion provider.
As a taxpayer and one who believes in the right to life, I do not believe that $1 of federal tax money should be given to any pro-abortion organizations such as Planned Parenthood. How can the congresswoman claim to be pro-life when she votes on continued funding for an abortion provider? Could it be that Brown-Waite is one of those politicians who campaigns in her district as a conservative and than once back in Washington, D.C., votes to fund liberal programs? Brown-Waite needs to come clean and explain her pro-abortion record!

More Restaurants
Needed In Spring Hill Area
I read your article in today's paper on the outcome of the former Lions Club. I'm not exactly sure where the location is, so I can't say if a restaurant at that location is a good place or not. But one audience member stated that there were too many restaurants in the area.
I know every time I go out to eat at most of the restaurants in the area there is a wait, anywhere from one to two hours. That does not sound like we have too many restaurants to me. I would welcome some good restaurants along Mariner and Spring Hill Drive. Then I wouldn't have to always drive to Commercial Way or Cortez Boulevard. Plus we could all save a little gas money, and enjoy ourselves even more.
