Botanical

Native Plant Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, 7922 State Road 52, Hudson. Speaker will be Sue Walsh on the topic entitled, "Butterfly Gardening with Florida Native Plants." A butterfly garden design for different size yards will be available for sale. First Hernando Republican Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at the Spring Hill Community Center, 1202 Kenlake Ave., Spring Hill. Soda-Licious, the local Precious Moments Club for Hernando and Pasco counties, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Chili's Restaurant on U.S. 19, across from the Gulfview Square Mall, Port Richey. The purpose of the club, along with fellowship and Precious Moments news with members and guests, is to choose a charity to support. All club projects benefit charities. All are welcome. Fraternal

Aripeka Elks Lodge 2520 serves dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. every Tuesday at the Lodge located at 9135 Denton Ave., Hudson. Baked chicken, liver (cooked to order) and onions, spaghetti and a chef's special will be offered. The cost of dinner will range from $6.50 to $8. Hernando County Shrine Club meets at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at the Shrine Club located at 13400 Montour St., off Sunshine Grove Road, Brooksville. Homeschool Support Group, Hernando Chapter of Pasco Christian Homeschooling Association (PCHA), will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month (August through May) at Family First Assembly, 12435 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill. PCHA is a nondenominational Christian support group for homeschooling families in the Hernando County area. The group has informational monthly meetings with yearly, monthly and weekly activities. St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 8064 Weeping Willow St., off State Road 50, Brooksville, holds perogi and bake sales from noon to 3 p.m. every Wednesday. Karen's Kit 'n Kaboodle (St. Andrew's Thrift Shop), 2301 Deltona Blvd., Spring Hill, is open from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The boutique-style shop features surprise special sales daily. Donations are appreciated and can be left in the shop during hours of operation or in the drop-off bin after hours. Jericho Road Ministries has a thrift store located at 16479 Wiscon Road, Brooksville, and in the Sunrise Plaza at 31170 Cortez Blvd., Ridge Manor, and also has an expanded book department at its thrift store located at 15319 Cortez Blvd. (State Road 50), Brooksville. All stores are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Clothing for adults and children, household items, furniture, kitchenware, toys, as well as numerous specialty items are available for sale. The thrift stores were established for the purpose of supporting the Jericho Road Men's Rescue Mission Shelter located at 1090 Mondon Hill Road in Brooksville.
