Art In The Park, Ribbons In Hand

BROOKSVILLE - A host of artists and crafters walked away from the 24th Annual Art in the Park with ribbons in hand this past weekend.
Lyn Novak Hise of earned Best of Show honors category for her mixed media fine art pieces featuring painted copper.

Here's a rundown of the other award winners from the two-day event held in Tom Varn Park and sponsored by the Hernando County Fine Arts Council:

Fine art

Award of excellence: Herbert Davis.

Award of distinction: Peter Gerbert.

Award of merit: Karin Dawn Best, Nicolae Tucker.

Fine craft

Award of excellence: Lora and Bob Thomas.

Award of distinction: Evie Harper.

Award of merit: Bonnie Eastwood, Ross Jones.

Craft

Award of merit: Julie and Joseph Evard, Eugene and Shirley Nicalek.

Students from public and private high schools and home-schooled students also participated in the student art competition.

Here are the award winners:

College

First place: Jennifer Bryant.

Second: Mitch Jarrell.

Third: Patrick Moran.

Honorable mention: Colleen Moran, Sam Falco.

High school, visual arts

Best of show: William Baldwin.

First place: Juan Diaz.

Second: Sherry Haber.

Third: Amy Mihok.

Honorable mention: Meagan Eng, Kaitlyn Royal, Jesse Leisure, Lauren DeVico, Kimberly Johnson, Kerry O'Connor, William Baldwin.

High school, performing arts

Best of show: Shannon O'Donnell.

Middle school

Best of show: Julia Rufino.

First place: Rebecca Maldonado.

Second: Lianna Groeneveld.

Third: Claudeen Guillaume

Honorable mention: Mickey Bennet, Matthew Dean, Tiana Sunderland, Devon Rennie, Kaitlyn Burbine, Lyndsey Pospisil, Derek Perkins and Lianna Groeneveld and Ashley Luevano.

Elementary school

Best of show: Christen Petruzzelli.

First place: Ashley VanTassel.

Second: Alexa Lacy.

Third: Jasmine Munford.

Honorable mention: Amber Duthie, Regan Darland, Emily McHugh, Emily Rushnell, Zoe Murchio and Alexis Sunderland.
