SPRING HILL - Deputies hunted for a man Thursday afternoon accused of smashing the front windows of a house and attacking the people inside.

Charles Burge, 27, spent the morning helping the victim work on his car and chugged a quart of vodka over that period, a report shows. He was kicked out of the house after becoming enraged over a $20 debt and returned five minutes later with a lawn chair.

Deputies say he used that chair to smash a car parked in the driveway, before breaking two windows in the house and kicking in the door. Once inside, he punched the first victim and attempted to drag his girlfriend out of the house by her neck, a report states.

Authorities were already on their way after neighbors called 911, but the first deputy on scene couldn't stop Burge as he ran away, a report shows.

With the help of a sheriff's helicopter and tracking dog, Burge, of 9419 Christine Lane, was caught and arrested. He is charged with burglary, criminal mischief, felony domestic battery, two counts resisting without violence and one count resisting with violence.

Floral City Man Charged

With Sexual Battery

BROOKSVILLE Deputies arrested a Floral City man on Thursday, seven years after they say he forced a young girl to perform sex acts on him.

The suspect, Daniel Lehman, lived with the victim's family as a boarder in 2000 and was frequently left alone with the girl, who was 7 at the time.

On three occasions he forced the girl into sexual relations, deputies say, but it wasn't until recently that the victim came forward about what happened.

Lehman, 42, is charged with three counts of sexual battery.

Uninvited Guest Arrested

BROOKSVILLE A drunk man forced his way into a stranger's vehicle while it was parked Thursday outside the main entrance of Wal-Mart.

The victims were loading groceries into their vehicle outside the store on Cortez Boulevard when Derek Griffith began trying to help them out.

They told him to stop, so Griffith climbed into the passenger seat and began reaching for CDs and the ignition, a report states.

Wal-Mart security intervened and Griffith, 25, of 3341 Dow Lane, was arrested soon after on a charge of burglary of a conveyance.
