WEEKI WACHEE - The body found beside a rural Hernando County road was a murder victim and authorities point to her son as the culprit.
Citrus County investigators issued a warrant Friday for the arrest of 49-year-old Donald Wing Jr. on a charge of first-degree murder.
Wing has been in south Georgia since Tuesday and the warrant was served by the Tift County Sheriff's Office, authorities say.
Detectives are still piecing together an exact timeline, but the victim, Janet Wing, 74, was last seen Sunday in church. Wing's children didn't hear from her past Saturday, so a deputy was sent out to check on her Tuesday.
They found her missing and "suspicious conditions" in her Beverly Hills home. Wing lived with his mother and likely killed her there, investigators say.
Her body was found by a local resident in the scrub bush that borders Atlanta Street, north of Weeki Wachee, around 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
Preliminary autopsy results indicate Wing's death was homicide caused by trauma to the upper torso.
