A suspected robber aimed a loaded gun at the police officer chasing him on Monday afternoon.
The officer dived for safety and no shot was fired. The suspect, Mathew S. Tyson, was arrested soon after, Brooksville police reported.
Investigators named Tyson, 23, of 2444 Casey Road, as the man who walked into Discount Beverage at 814 S. Broad St. and demanded money at gunpoint.
With the money in hand, Tyson fled the store on foot into the nearby woods and was confronted by several police officers, police say. Tyson aimed the gun with a "three-point stance", but never fired, Chief George Turner said.
Tyson is charged with robbery with a firearm, resisting an officer and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
Asked why information on the robbery wasn't released until Thursday, Turner didn't directly answer but said in-house changes were being made so that felony arrest information would be regularly updated on the department's Web site.
