SPRING HILL - A man's body was found at the bottom of a clubhouse pool early Friday morning.

Investigators say it belonged to 25-year-old Daniel Foster.

Foster made his home at the apartment complex where he died, Suncoast Villa Apartments on Barclay Avenue, between Powell Road and Spring Hill Drive.

Around 1 a.m. Friday, the sheriff's office received a complaint about a man swimming in the pool and tossing chairs around. The responding deputy found Foster in the pool, according to a press release.

Foster told the deputy he had been drinking earlier in the evening and he was having a swim before going to bed. He assured the deputy he would get out of the pool immediately and head back to his apartment.

Around 8 a.m., the maintenance supervisor for the complex began his rounds. It appeared that the plastic fence surrounding the pool had been slightly bent in places. Buckets of chlorine were tipped over. He thought it was vandalism.

Then he saw the body in the still water.

Spring Hill firefighters rushed to the scene.

"It was obvious he was dead," said Assistant Chief Bill Davies, so there was no reason for a rescue attempt. "We left it with the sheriff."

Responding deputies roped off the tan clubhouse with crime scene tape. They found Foster's wallet and belongings on the pool deck.

Sleepy residents in bare feet stood on their patios to watch.

Ray Duval lives within sight of the pool. He was heading out of town and stopped to watch the commotion for a moment.

In his almost three years at the complex, this was his first time to even see the cops outside his door.

"It's a quiet place," he said.

Foul play is not suspected in the drowning incident.
