Hernando County Public Library System will offer the following programs:
•Teen Game Day will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Spring Hill Branch Library, 9220 Spring Hill Drive. Rockband, Guitar Hero, Internet games and Wii games will be featured. A drawing for an iPod Nano will be held at 4 p.m. for teens that participate in Game Day, but teens must be present to win. Teens 12 to 17 years old are invited. The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library of Hernando County. For more information, call the library program staff at 352-540-6391.
•The Jiggleman will be featured at 10:15 a.m. today at the Spring Hill Branch Library, 9220 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill. The event is part of the Summer Fun program and is for ages 5 through 12.
•A movie will be presented at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the East Hernando Branch Library, 6457 Windmere Road, Brooksville. Treasure hunter Benjamin Franklin Gates is back and looking to discover the truth behind the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. He finds John Wilkes Booth's diary and is determined to uncover the mystery within the 18 missing pages in this adventure film. The movie is rated PG and runs 118 minutes. The program is free of charge, and registration is not required. Light refreshments will be provided. The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library of Hernando County. •Book discussion group will meet at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Main Library, 238 Howell Ave., Brooksville. The group will be discussing "The Namesake" by Jhumpa Lahiri. The novel is a finely wrought, deeply moving family drama that illuminates the acclaimed author's signature themes; namely, immigrant experience, clash of cultures, and tangled ties between generations. Registration is not required, but copies of the book are limited. Check out a copy at the Main Library to join the informal discussion.
Note that the Hernando County Public Library System will be closing at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, for staff development and training. The library will reopen with normal hours on Thursday, Aug. 7. For more information, contact the Library Program Staff at 352-540-6391.
