SPRING HILL - A sinkhole opened Wednesday while construction workers were pumping concrete at a nearby house, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.
The 5-by-20 foot depression opened in front of the Oak Lake Drive home, located near County Line Road, deputies said.
The neighborhood road was shut down by the Department of Public Works.
The sinkhole was still considered "active," so it was not filled in as of Wednesday afternoon, deputies said.
There were no evacuations among the 15 houses in the area, but motorists living there were required to take an alternate route due to the barricades.
The road was expected to be closed for two days, according to a county government media release.
