CPR Classes To Be Offered At Enrichment Center
SPRING HILL - CPR classes will be offered Thursdays, July 24, Aug. 21 and Aug. 28 at the Spring Hill Enrichment Center located at the rear of Oak Hill Hospital, 11375 Cortez Blvd. Classes will begin promptly at 6 p.m., and the cost will be $20 per person.
The classes meet the guidelines of the American Heart Association and the American Safety and Health Institute. Designed for the professional health care provider, the classes will include mannequin practice. Nonprofessional health care providers are also welcome. Upon satisfactory completion, a two-year certification card will be issued. Since seating is limited, reservations are recommended.

Dr. Steven Visnaw To Present 'Colon Care'
SPRING HILL - Oak Hill Hospital has announced that it will continue its popular community education series from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, in the fourth floor classroom of the Hernando Medical Center adjacent the hospital located at 11375 Cortez Blvd. Steven Visnaw, D.O., will present "Colon Care." He will cover all aspects of colon care from signs and symptoms to preventive screenings, medications, surgical procedures and aftercare.
Dr. Visnaw is board certified in general surgery. He holds a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Nova Southeastern University, North Miami Beach. All presentations of the "For Your Health" series include complimentary refreshments. Since seating is limited, reservations are advised.

Divorce Care Schedule At St. Andrew's Church
SPRING HILL - St. Andrew's Episcopal Church will hold its summer schedule for Divorce Care as follows: at 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 21, and Aug. 4, in the Krysher Hall Library of the church located at 2301 Deltona Blvd. The summer schedule will consist of informal discussion gatherings until the fall session resumes.

Cancer Institute To Host Look Good - Feel Better Program
BROOKSVILLE - Florida Cancer Institute has announced that it will host the American Cancer Society's "Look Good...Feel Better" program once a month in its conference room. The program is held periodically on Thursdays from 3 to 5 p.m. The next scheduled meeting will be held July 24.
This is a free group program that teaches beauty techniques to female cancer patients to help combat the appearance-related side effects of treatment. "Look Good... Feel Better" is free and open to all women cancer patients in active treatment.

Leukemia Support Group Will Not Meet In July And August
SPRING HILL - The Florida Cancer Institute will not hold its Leukemia/Lymphoma Support Group meeting in July and August. The group usually meets from 5 to 6:30 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Florida Cancer Institute's Spring Hill Center, 10441 Quality Drive, Suite 203, in the Medical Arts Building next to Spring Hill Regional Hospital.
Topics that are frequently discussed are: the importance of early detection, signs and symptoms of leukemia-lymphoma, prognosis, disease stages, the various treatment options, and especially the latest research and treatment modalities.

Oak Hill To Host Guest Speaker At Heart Meeting
SPRING HILL - Oak Hill Hospital will host guest speaker Karen Dixon, physician's assistant - certified, at its Healthy Hearts Support Group meeting to be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at the Enrichment Center at Oak Hill Hospital located at 11375 Cortez Blvd. Dixon is a physician's assistant in cardiovascular surgery and has been with HCA for over 16 years. She has been with Oak Hill since the opening of the Heart Institute and is a graduate of Washington University in Washington, D.C. Her topic of discussion will be "Cardiovascular Anatomy and Disease." The purpose of the support group is to provide information and answer questions regarding all aspects of the heart. Community Hospital's Birthplace Offering Prenatal Courses, Yoga
NEW PORT RICHEY - The Birthplace at Community Hospital, located at 5637 Marine Parkway, will now offer a wide range of family education services to help expectant parents prepare for the upcoming birth of their baby.
The course instructors are Registered Nurses skilled in maternal child nursing and certified in childbirth education. Community Hospital offers a variety of courses on a continuous basis.
Childbirth preparation classes should be completed by 36 weeks of pregnancy; therefore, candidates are encouraged to register early.

Veteran Services Seeking Van Drivers To Transport Veterans
Hernando County Veteran Services is currently accepting applications for volunteer van drivers to transport Hernando County veterans to medical appointments at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa. To qualify, a volunteer must possess a valid driver's license, have a safe driving record, show proof of current automobile insurance, pass a physical health screening, and attend volunteer training and orientation. All training and physicals are free of charge.

Reiki Clinic To Be Held At Inner Peace Center
BROOKSVILLE - A Reiki Clinic will be held at 7 p.m. each Wednesday at the Inner Peace Bookstore and Wellness Center located at 421 West Jefferson St. Reiki is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy, an energy all around people. CARES To Offer Early Memory Loss Program
PORT RICHEY - CARES Early Memory Loss Program will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Thursday at the CARES Phil Mishkin Administrative Center, 7505 Rottingham Road. The program is for individuals who are experiencing early memory losses and need a proactive day program to provide social support and memory retraining skills. The CARES "Senior Movements" Early Memory Loss Program offers individuals and their families opportunities to reduce the progression and challenges of potential memory disorders through early intervention. SHINE Opens New Site In Spring Hill
SPRING HILL - SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) has opened a new site at the Little Red Schoolhouse located at 1208 Kenlake Ave., off Spring Hill Drive. Trained SHINE volunteers will be available from 11 a.m. to noon every Wednesday. Volunteers will offer information and assistance with Medicare, Medicare Prescription Drug Plans, Medicare supplemental insurance, Medicaid programs, and prescription assistance programs offered by pharmaceutical companies. They can also provide valuable information about Medicare to persons soon to turn 65. SHINE is a statewide program of the Florida Department of Elder Affairs. Multiple SHINE sites are open in Hernando County; call the Elder Helpline at 1-800-262-2243 for site locations or to be referred to a SHINE counselor.
NAMI Hernando Seeking Volunteers
National Alliance On Mental Illness/NAMI Hernando is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization whose mission statement is to promote mental health awareness in the community through education, support, advocacy and outreach while improving the quality of life toward recovery for all who are living with mental illness, their families and their supporters. NAMI Hernando speakers group is available to church ministries, civic groups, including military veterans and their families, senior citizen groups and parent teacher associations. Speakers offer insight of what NAMI Hernando is all about.
NAMI Hernando is seeking volunteers as follows:
Professional with knowledge of bi-polar disorder to act as a facilitator for a bi-polar support group;
Person with marketing knowledge to help launch and organize fundraising and other community events;
Parent of adolescent with mental illness to become a trained teacher for adolescent family-to-family education classes;
Education Committee seeking churches, halls, hospitals, or any large conference room to hold the educational classes that NAMI offers.
Arts and crafts instructor needed for two afternoons per month.

Bereavement Group Will Meet At Cabrini Center

Celebrate Recovery Offered At Three Local Churches
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered 12-step program that offers healing for addictive behaviors, hang-ups and hurts.
