No Gracias, Barack

Kiss my foot Obama! Telling Americans that our kids should learn Spanish.

English has become the language of international business, commerce, science and technology. Other nations learn English, because English is the "universal" language in which things get done. Only in America (an English-speaking country) would left-wing Barack Obama tell Americans that their kids should learn Spanish.

I am so mad I could spit! You as our president? How could anybody be stupid enough as vote for you?

Do Your Homework

Sen. John McCain said that Florida off-shore drilling would be a "short-term solution" to high gasoline prices. We don't need any short-term fixes. It's long-term solutions that are needed!

And since the United States government has not built any new oil refineries in the past three decades, isn't spending billions to build off-shore platforms putting the cart before the horse? And now Florida Gov. Charlie Crist is selling Florida out to be McCain's vice president hopeful! Which brings me to U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite's gross inaccuracy, wherein she states, "Even during hurricane Katrina, they quickly shut down rigs and there wasn't a drop of oil spilled." In fact, The New York Times reported: The Coast Guard said that its crews had spotted several sunken platforms and rigs. The destruction was often accompanied by oil spills. Also reporting was The Washington Post: The EPA and Coast Guard responded to more than 400 reported oil or chemical spills, including five major spills in the New Orleans area, releasing more than 8 million gallons. Additionally, New Standard News added: FEMA confirms that over 8 million gallons of oil have spilled in the impact zones; by comparison, Alaska's infamous Exxon Valdez spill dumped 11 million gallons. Furthermore, at least 20 oil rigs and platforms are missing in the Gulf of Mexico as was reported by The U.S. Coast Guard."

Ms. Ginny, please do your homework!

Fear Factor

In today's edition of the Hernando Today, the Spring Hill Fire District is once again raising the fear factor to retain their fiefdom. Attorney Salzman has developed talking points that strongly infer that if the fire commission is dissolved, Spring Hill residents will lose all representation.

The dissolution of the Spring Hill Fire District will result in the fire services moving under the control of Hernando County. As of June 30, 56 percent of Hernando County residents are from Spring Hill. Should Spring Hill residents vote to dissolve the Spring Hill Fire District, all they need to do is vote to maintain a strong say in the fire services being provided.

Give the residents credit for making a reasoned decision on this issue and avoid the fear factor.
