iPhone Frenzy Part 2

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS - Nothing was going to make one committed customer give up his place in line.

Not even $10,000.

One iPhone buyer turned down the aforementioned jackpot so he could be the first person to walk out of an Altamonte Springs shop with the latest gadget.

"It's booming over here," said AT&T spokeswoman Gretchen Schultz, who had been watching long lines stretch farther and farther before dawn Friday. "Some people have been waiting in line since Wednesday night."
Eager customers at the AT&T store at 4375 Commercial Way in Spring Hill snatched all the phones in stock by 10 a.m. An employee said he expects another shipment to come in by Monday.

The device is the latest technology designed by Apple.

The latest iPhone includes all of the features that were introduced in the first version last year. The newest model has added global positioning system, up-to-date software for businesses and an applications store that includes more entertainment and games.

The array of new highlights was mostly geared toward businesses. The features make the phone more apt for those in real estate, health care and other major industries, Schultz said.

"There are things you can't even imagine that they've come up with," she joked.

The new navigation chip provides users with more accurate and advanced GPS data compared to the old map service that was included with the first iPhone.

The device also features faster speeds.

However, customers across the nation were having difficulty activating their phones from the stores yesterday due to problems with the Apple iTunes servers, according to the Associated Press.
