State Clubs
Illinois Club of Spring Hill will meet at 1 p.m. today at Forest Oaks Lutheran Church, 8555 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. A Hawaiian luau will be featured, so dress in Hawaiian style. Bring a dish to share plus own table service and beverage. Coffee will be provided. The object of the club is to promote fellowship, social and fraternal activities for former residents of Illinois. In addition to monthly meetings, activities include eating out at a local restaurant each month and group travel opportunities. Annual dues are $12 per person. All former Illinois residents and their partners are invited to join the club or to come as a guest prior to making a decision to join. Hernando Beach Club holds an "open house" Friday night dinner at the club located at 3145 Flamingo Blvd., Hernando Beach. Doors open at 5 p.m., and dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. All meals are prepared by members and include dessert at a cost of $8 to $10. Reservations are required by the Wednesday preceding the Friday night dinner of attendance. Also, the club will present "Let Me Entertain You" on Friday, Aug. 1, with Sally & Roy, special appearances by "Cher" and "Marilyn." Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. The cost will be $8 per person for members and $10 per person for guests. The cost will include a steak dinner. VFW Post 10209 serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as follows: from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Sunday; from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays in the Hall; soup and sandwich special at a cost of $3.99 will be offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday; and early bird specials will be offered from 2 to 5 p.m. Fridays at a cost of $5.95. VFW Post 9236, 3435 Shoal Line Blvd., Hernando Beach, will offer $1 hot dogs Monday through Saturday, with beer special on Mondays; line dancing from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays; spaghetti dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays; wear a red shirt and receive discounts on beverages all day on Fridays; steak night on the second Saturday of the month. Fraternal
Fraternal Order of Eagles, Hallcrest Aerie 4497, is open from noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Aerie located at 1391 Kass Circle, Spring Hill. The Aerie is accepting new members, dual membership transfers, and previous members. Activities are as follows: karaoke is held Saturday evenings, free pool Thursdays, bowling machine tournament, monthly barbecue party, auctions, yard sales, holiday parties, fundraising, raffle. Brooksville Elks Lodge 2582 holds dinner and dancing every Friday at the Lodge located at 14494 Cortez Blvd. Doors will open at 4 p.m., and dinner will be served from 5 to 6:15 p.m. Dancing will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for members and $11 for guests. Aripeka Elks Lodge 2520 serves fish and french fries from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Friday. The cost is $3 per person. Also, Friday dinner is served from 5 to 8 p.m. with music from 6 to 10 p.m. Menu choices include baked or fried fish, baked chicken and the "chef's special," which includes a vegetable, potato, salad or soup, and dessert. Prices range from $8.50 to $10. Also, the Lodge holds bingo every Wednesday and Sunday at the Lodge located at 9135 Denton Ave., Hudson. On Wednesdays, bingo begins at 10 a.m. A potluck is held from 3 to 6 p.m.; bring a dish. Music will be provided for dancing. On Sundays, bingo begins at 4:30 p.m. Food will be available both days.
