SPRING HILL - A man was arrested and two firearms were seized Thursday after a woman told authorities she was beaten and threatened.

Jason Lee Collins, 24, of 10424 Mayflower Road, was charged with aggravated battery and aggravated assault and was being held at the Hernando County Jail as of Sunday.

His fiancée, Stephanie Sizemore, told him she wanted to end the relationship, at which time he became enraged, said Hernando County Sheriff's deputies.

Collins struck Stephanie several times with a metal rod on her arms, lower back and right hip, according to an arrest affidavit.

He then retrieved a black powder musket and rifle from the master bedroom. He held one to his chin and threatened to kill her and himself, deputies said.

Sizemore fled the house, locked herself in her vehicle and called 911, according to the affidavit.

Collins left the residence, but was stopped by the Florida Highway Patrol along Mariner Boulevard, deputies said.
