A Hernando County woman who authorities suspect was kidnapped at gunpoint by her husband Tuesday was found in a St. John's County hospital suffering from a gunshot wound.
The husband was in custody Tuesday afternoon after leading St. John's County authorities in a foot chase. Charges were still pending Tuesday evening.
Witnesses told the Hernando County Sheriff's Office they last saw the victim, 35-year-old Donna Sue Moats, in the area of Cyrano Drive, a roadway in rural east Hernando County. She was being forced into a green Jeep by a man with a shotgun, witnesses said.
Moats called her daughter to say she had been shot and needed help, according to the sheriff's office.
Investigators named her husband, Randolph Mark Moats, 39, as the suspect and described him as a white man with balding dark hair and wearing a black shirt and tan shorts.
Sue Moats was found later at the Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, where she underwent surgery for a gunshot wound. Her condition was unavailable Tuesday evening.
