BROOKSVILLE - BROOKSVILLE - Jim King, a Land O'Lakes Republican seeking to unseat U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite, has suspended his campaign to tend to a back injury.
King offered few details late Tuesday but said a visit to an orthopedist earlier in the day confirmed he will have to undergo treatment for his condition.
"It's hard to run a campaign while flat on my back," King said in an e-mail to Hernando Today.
King, 53, is the lone Republican challenging Brown-Waite, who is seeking her third term in the 5th Congressional District seat.
King said he planned to make a formal announcement today.
