BROOKSVILLE - BROOKSVILLE - Florida Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, has received the following prestigious awards from a variety of regional and statewide organizations:
• Herman W. Goldner Award for Regional Leadership, presented by the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council - The award is given to "an individual who exemplifies the spirit of regional cooperation, dedication to his/her community and notable achievement in encouraging future vision," according to a release. Goldner served as mayor of St. Petersburg and is the founding father of the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council.
• Associated Industries of Florida 2008 Champion for Business Award - given for his early support of the business community's economic stimulus package. "His belief in the power of investing in Florida's infrastructure, particularly roads and affordable housing, will help bring jobs and prosperity to the state," according to the release.
• Elder Care Advocacy of Florida recognized Fasano for "outstanding legislative efforts on behalf of elderly constituents in the 2008 legislative session at the State Capitol in Tallahassee and for his care and concern, as illustrated by his active and visible presence in district events in regard to children, families and elders, of our great state of Florida, in a superior manner." Austin Curry, Executive Director of Elder Care Advocacy of Florida, presented Fasano with the award.
• Florida Family Child Care Home Association presented an award to Senator Fasano "in recognition of (his) commitment to quality family child care" at its annual meeting on June 27, 2008 in Clearwater.
• The Early Learning Coalition of Pasco and Hernando presented Fasano with an award "with respect for your leadership and kindness to children" on June 19, 2008.
"I am truly humbled by the recognition of these fine organizations that do so much for the people they represent," Fasano said. "I am proud that what little part I may play in their success leads to improved lives for Floridians both locally and across the state."
