Rowdens' Help, Kindness Won't Be Forgotten

Published: January 22, 2008

I'm a director and second vice president at Brookridge. On several occasions I have had go to Hernando County Commissioner Diane Rowden for help, and she always helped us.

This week I called her and explained to her that my wife is working with folks in Brookridge who need assistance because their income is so low. At this time, a particular couple had no heat. It has been very cold in the past few weeks. A local heating and air conditioning man told these folks that the unit could not be repaired and needed to be replaced. Unfortunately there is no money to replace the unit.

That's when Commissioner Rowden took charge of this problem. She immediately asked her husband, Jay, to go to the couple's home and see if the unit could be repaired. Jay had a friend who is an A/C repair man, and they went over there and fixed it that evening. And they said there was no charge to the couple.

I have recently seen a letter in the paper by a person who said that Commissioner Rowden and her husband should just go away from here. Thank God for these two people, that they are still here to help these poor people.

These two people and the repairman are good people who care about helping those who need it, and they go out of their way to help the less fortunate among us.

Thank you, Diane and Jay and the person who helped with the repairs. Your kindness in this matter will not be forgotten.
