A suspect in two robberies surrendered peacefully saturday night, in part because he was "tired of running."
A tip led deputies to pull over the car of 24-year-old Michael Cardona, who was driving along sealawn drive just prior to 9 p.m.
Cardona was arrested in connection with two robberies from the wee hours of thursday morning: one a home invasion that involved beating the resident, the other roughing up a Hampton Inn clerk and stealing a safe.
a trail of clues led a detective to the home of their first suspect, Leo Johnson III, about eight hours later. just as Johnson was placed under arrest, a white van drove by with cardona and another suspect, osvaldo rojas.
the van sped off and was later abandoned, prompting a manhunt in the area near delta woods park on deltona boulevard.
Authorities initially considered Rojas and Cardona armed with handguns, but Ciucci said Cardona only had a pocketknife upon his arrest.
