In regards to Doug Patton's recent column in which he equates Huckabee to Ronald Reagan, with all due respect to Mr. Patton and anyone else who has like-minded opinions, he doesn't know what he is talking about.
Gov. Huckabee is nowhere near being another Ronald Reagan and this is not just my opinion, but the opinion of his oldest son, Michael Reagan.
Gov. Huckabee is another one of these middle-of-the- road Republicans who as governor has backed illegal immigration, and for that reason I could not vote for him. He has also raised taxes, and that is another reason I would not vote for him.
I am troubled by this election, troubled by the list of candidates, all of whom have much to be desired. You have all of them talking, using words like "change" and "hope" and at in the same breath saying absolutely nothing. What is really scary is how the American public has been suckered into believing the candidate, if elected, is going to solve all the problems in the nation. If anyone believes that, there is a bridge in Brooklyn I want to sell you.
Getting back to Mr. Patton, all I have to say is there was only one Ronald Reagan. Who we need as a president is one who will secure our borders and deal with illegal immigration in a proper manner; fight to keep jobs from leaving the country; fight against lobbyists; fight for a fair tax system. I could go on and, quite frankly, I don't see anyone right now I would want to vote for. In fact, my family and I might have to vote for a write-in candidate and would-be Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite.
