BROOKSVILLE - BROOKSVILLE - A woman donned a blond wig and sunglasses in an attempt to cash a check with another person's driver's license, a report shows.
A clerk at a Bank of America drive-thru grew suspicious Monday afternoon when the suspect on camera didn't match the photo of the driver's license, Deputy Derik Deso reported.
In fact, she looked a lot like the woman who stopped by the bank a week earlier with a different check and driver's license, except this time with a wig, according to Deso.
She had sped off the first time when the manager started asking tough questions and left behind the Citibank Master Card and photo ID she was attempting to pass. Investigators later tracked that license to a woman who told authorities her purse had been stolen from her car.
The suspect had just left when a deputy pulled up to the bank on Monday, but she hadn't gone far when deputies pulled over her Volkswagen Passat near the entrance of Oak Hill Hospital.
The driver, Wanda Freist, 44, reportedly admitted to stealing the licenses from cars in several counties and investigators said they found other wigs and pairs of sunglasses in the car.
She was charged with criminal use of personal identification.
