BROOKSVILLE - Fox Chapel (3-0) Junior Varsity's boys' basketball team pulled a rare feat Monday at Powell by blanking host J.D. Floyd (0-3), 60-0.

Going all out from the tip the Fox Chapel Tigers scored quick and often combining a full-court pressure defense and fast-break points on their way to a thrashing of the first-year Dolphins.

The Tigers went up 9-0 when Jose Colon stole the inbound pass and dished it off to Jameel Tillman for an easy lay-up.

Eighteen seconds later Daniel Robinson intercepted a pass of his own and went the length of the floor for two of his eight on the night.

With two minutes left in the first quarter, Floyd hadn't gotten a shot off.

The reason? The Tiger's aggressive style and swarming defense wouldn't allow the Dolphins any operating room and continually forced the Dolphins into turnovers with errant passes.

Starting a fast break with 17 seconds remaining in the quarter, Colon made an outlet pass to Mike Simon and he passed it to Sam Mazia and he laid it in for two more and a 23-0 lead at the end of the quarter.

With 1:07 left to play in the first half, Jimmy Nguyen swiped the ball and scored on a lay-up of his own making the halftime score 35-0.

More of the same

The second half proved to be more of the same with Fox Chapel increasing the lead to 56-0 when Brandon Paino stole the ball and went the length of the court for two of his 13 on the night.
Kakod Black hit a jumper from the outside for his only bucket with 17 seconds left mercifully ending the game with the score 60-0.
Jameel Tillman led all scorers with 14 and teammate Brandon Paino added 13.
Unfortunately for the Dolphins they went to the foul line for the first time as time ran out with two shots at getting in the scoring column, but missed both.
"Our team is a really talented team, I've been there since 2002," explained Fox Chapel Head Coach Mike Adams after the game. "Definitely the most talented team I've seen. We have two players at every position so we're deep and we run and we don't make a lot of turnovers. When I tell these guys to do something in practice, it's amazing how quick they pick it up. They immediately do it."
"It's our first year," countered J.D. Floyd's first-year Head Coach, John McMurdo. "It's the first year for a lot of these guys to play any kind of organized sports. I told them after the game today, we are just going to learn on what we do out here and every week we will get a little better."
