SPRING HILL - A suspected drunk driver was arrested Tuesday night after a deputy said he saw him driving south on Mariner Boulevard with no headlights.

The driver, John Corcoran, 72, made three attempts to open the door of his car and, once outside, he failed the field sobriety tests, a report states.

Corcoran was charged with DUI and taken to the county jail, where he reportedly gave a blood alcohol level of .185 and .181. Florida law presumes intoxication at .08.

He was also given a citation for failing to use headlights at night.

Police Interrupt Man Smoking Crack In A Ditch

BROOKSVILLE - Police say they interrupted a man smoking crack cocaine in a ditch, then used a stun gun on him when he refused to be handcuffed.

The officer was on patrol in the area of Armstrong and Ellington avenues around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday when he saw Sean Witscher, 25, in a ditch. Witscher threw something into the bushes as the officer approached, which was later found to be a bag of crack cocaine and a drug-smoking pipe, according to a report.

Witscher had to be Tasered before he was arrested on charges of possession of crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting an officer without violence.
