Suspected Purse Snatcher Arrested

SPRING HILL - A man suspected of snatching a purse from the arm of an 85-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday on a robbery charge.

The alleged robbery occurred around 2:30 p.m. Saturday at a Hess Express on Deltona Boulevard, where the victim was pumping gas. The suspect jumped into a maroon vehicle that sped from the scene, according to an affidavit.

Prior to that incident, there was another attempted robbery in Lakewood Plaza on Commercial Way. Investigators say they were provided a tag for the vehicle, which led them to 6425 Covewood Road.

There detectives spoke with Nactania Walker, who admitted to driving the getaway car and assisting the alleged robber, James Whitehead. Walker, 23, was charged Monday as an accessory to robbery.

Whitehead, 23, who has no fixed address, was arrested Wednesday and charged with robbery by sudden snatching.

Traffic Stop Yields Two Drug Arrests

BROOKSVILLE - Two women were arrested on drug charges Wednesday after police say they found prescription pills and used syringes during a traffic stop.

Police stopped a black Dodge pickup for an expired tag around 3 p.m. at 645 Harvard Ave. and determined that the driver, Janet Napier, 30, was driving on a suspended license, a report shows.

A search of the truck reportedly turned up one and a half Xanax pills, four used syringes and a pill crusher with residue. Napier, of 7291 Woodland Drive, was charged with driving on a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Police also say they searched two purses that belonged to a passenger in the truck, Pamela Becker, 42, and found methamphetamine, a used syringe and 52 Soma pills that were not prescribed to her. Becker, of 712 W. Jefferson St., was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia.
Fish Fly In Fight, Deputies Say

BROOKSVILLE - Deputies arrested a man Wednesday after his girlfriend told them he threw two fish at her and sprayed her in the face with window cleaner.

Authorities were called to the Hidden Valley Campground to investigate a fight on Lot 20 and spoke first with the victim, who did not require medical attention. She said her boyfriend of three years, Jerry Bejger, 61, threw the fish during an argument, a report states. Bejger, who said the victim was "very belligerent," was charged with domestic battery.
