BROOKSVILLE - Troopers will be out in force this holiday season to enforce the speed limit and nab drunk drivers.
Operation Safe Ride will run Dec. 17 and 18 on Interstate 75, U.S. 19 and State Road 44 in Citrus County.
The CARE Lifesaver Weekend, which runs from Dec. 19-21, will feature the most troopers on the road, with six speed enforcement details, a move-over detail and a DUI Wolfpack. Those will be set up along I-75, U.S 19 and State Road 50.
For the New Year's holiday period, five speed enforcement details and one DUI Wolfpack will be monitoring I-75, U.S. 19 and S.R. 44.
The purpose is to increase trooper presence and visibility to curb holiday crashes, which killed 35 motorists last year and injured hundreds more, according to a news release.
