RIDGE MANOR - Construction was completed well ahead of schedule on an Interstate 75 overpass damaged by a dump truck.
Traffic is open on both lanes of southbound Interstate 75 and State Road 50 is open to traffic in both lanes in each direction.
The Dec. 9 accident happened when a dump truck's bed inexplicably rose as the eastbound truck on S.R. 50 passed under the bridge. The impact smashed through one concrete bridge beam and cracked another. No one was injured and no charges were filed.
Construction began the next day and the Florida Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that work was done. Original estimates had a completion deadline of three weeks.
The contractor is expected to bill the dump truck's carrier company, W. Clyde Daniels Construction of Brooksville, for the $500,000 construction bill.
